My romantic boutique hotel in Porto for couples, Canto de Luz, is a beautifully restored Maison right in the heart of the old town with super-king wide double beds, original art in every suite, a heated pool in a quiet garden, and a homemade breakfast included in every rate. Breakfast Where You Want It

A homemade breakfast is included in every rate. Eat in the Orangerie, in the garden when the weather is right, or have it delivered to the suite. Couples on slow mornings tend to choose in-suite delivery for the first day and the Orangerie for the rest, once they have found their pace.

A Heated Pool, in a Quiet Garden

The outdoor pool is heated and open every day of the year, from 09:30 to 19:30. It sits in my private garden, away from the street, with loungers, towels and the Orangerie a few steps away for a glass of port at sunset. It is the kind of pool you swim a slow length of and then sit beside, not a hotel pool you queue for.

Right in the Heart of Porto, for Slow Walks Home

Canto de Luz is on Rua do Almada, a short walk from the riverside in Ribeira, the port lodges across the river in Gaia, Livraria Lello, the Clérigos tower, and São Bento station. Dinner at one of my favourite restaurants becomes a slow walk home through the old town, not a taxi sprint. The Gaia gondola is one tram ride away for sunset, and the Douro valley is a forty-minute drive for a day trip.

Yes. Breakfast can be served in the Orangerie, in the garden, or delivered to the suite. Just tell us the evening before.

Can you arrange flowers or a cake for an anniversary?

Yes. Tell me in advance and I will arrange flowers at check-in and a cake, port or wine in the suite for the moment.

Is there a spa?

Canto de Luz does not have an in-house spa, but our therapists provide in room massage and manicure / pedicure treatments which can be booked online.

Can we add a Douro day trip or a wine tasting?

Yes. Canto Cooking, my on-site cooking school and wine-tasting experience, runs small-group classes, and I can arrange a Douro tour through a trusted partner.
